21606 : More Than Court Order, More Than A Strike

Was it a strike or Was it a sit-in !! ?? Some were wondering today whether from those who covered the event or who went there but non one actually gave a correct answer because what seemed to be a sit-in actually was named as a strike nevertheless it was something new , people chanted for their kids’ life not for their president’s life.
For Food-Reuters
It was new because it was from the rare times that the police would not come and clash with the protesters and activists as usual despite a little clash that can’t be compared to the horrors of last 6th and 13th of April. The clashes happened when the protesters tried to penetrate the security cordon as usual , other than that well it turned out that MP Nashat El-Kassas1 did to activism in Egypt a big favor without knowing it.
Public Demand-AP
People did go but not as expected , of course as usual we can’t be accurate how many people have actually participated today as you would find someone says that they were not more than 400 where other says they were 500 while others said they were nearly 800. I believe people would have participated more if they know that this protest is for all , not only for blue collars but white collars as well.
The red flags and Nasser photos were there as expected but no one can do anything except wondering where are the rest of the political forces in Egypt !!?? The minimum wages limit is not a demand of the leftists and Nasserites but rather a public demand.
The policewomen were there but thank God they did not participate like last time.

This protest is unique because it is the first to be aired alive online through huge preparations , hats off to those wonderful guys who never give up :) You can find more coverage about today in its official website.
Dear Dr. Nadia El-Awady wrote about her experience today in the protest , it is highly recommended. She also took couple of photos there with her mobile phone.
Tomorrow the members of parliament led by the MB will have a rally from Omar Makram street to the parliament to demand a minimum wage limit. Already I expect there will be more suspense tomorrow because the ministry of interior refused to give permission for a rally to the MPs and the activists .
Notes
1. Ironically he apologized today officially in the parliament for his stupid suggestion

  1. this is the same question I have !!! was it a demonstration (i.e people will come and stay for a couple of hours and then leave) or an open sit-in as it was supposed to be (i.e protesters staying at their place until their demands are answered) ... I'm so deceived :-(( I was also expecting a larger number of protesters and would really like to understand what went wrong :-(
